Membership cards or ID cards play a pivotal role in the marketing and branding of an organization. One has to search at so many places before placing an order, comparing the printing charges of various companies, choosing from various designs and so on. However, if there is even a minute mistake in the printing of the card, it’s all in vain. The answer to all your woes is to install your own membership card printer. Membership card printing is extremely important for your own organization and having your own printer means you can save lots of precious money and time. Moreover, it would be really exciting to design the ID badges yourself and you can print them or edit them as per your own convenience. Now the only decision you need to take for membership card printing is to choose the card printer which fits your budget and requirements.
There are various types of card printers in the market which are as follows:

Printing and Laminating ID Cards

In case you already have a color or black and white printer which gives great prints when a high quality printer paper is used, even buying a simple and cheap laminator will machine and plastic pouches will also solve your problem. No doubt, this combination is cost effective but it is the least durable as well. If there is lack of funds you can still go for this option and get fine quality cards by printing directly on the plastic cards with thermal membership badge printers.

Plastic Card Printers

As compared to the conventional printer the plastic card printers fare better as plastic badges are long lasting and durable then the laminated cards. As a non-printable border is not required the graphics can extend to the edges of the card giving it a more finesse and professional touch. The plastic ID badge printers are further of three types: Single sided, Double sided, and Re writable plastic badge printers.

Single Sided Plastic Badge Printers

Of the three plastic card printers, Single sided card or badge printer is the cheapest and basic of all. Many people prefer the single sided printers as the plastic badge printers are quite costly. The single sided printer can also be upgraded to the double sided one and this is quite inexpensive, it can be done in case you want to the change the card’s outlook.

Double Sided Plastic Badge Printers

These printers are fitted with a special mechanism through which the card is flipped for printing on the other side by itself. Double sided badges look more professional in comparison to the single sided ones. The double sided cards carry more information and depending on the relevance of the data, you can print it on the front or the back side of the card.

Re-writable Plastic Badge Printers

Such printers need thermally sensitive cards and a special printer head. These printers come in handy where the members’ information might change in the future and you can rewrite every time there is a change.
